INDIVIDUAL AND SYSTEMS ADVOCACY: On My
Own, Inc. provides systems advocacy in regard to public policy issues. Public policy issues include, but are not limited to
the following; equal opportunity housing, transportation, employment and access to community activities and public services.
The ADA and section 504 provide much of the basis for our work in individual and systems advocacy.
ADAPTIVE
TELEPHONE & ADAPTIVE INTERNET SOFTWARE PROGRAMS On
My Own, Inc. serves as an administrator for
the TAP for Telephone (Telecommunications Access Program) and TAP for Internet programs in the State of
Missouri. TAP for Telephone provides for seven categories of adaptive equipment, for hearing, sight, mobility
and multiple disabilities. This equipment is provided free of charge. You must be a
Missouri resident; you must have phone service in your home; and you must have a certified disability
that prevents you from using basic telephone equipment. Your annual adjusted income must not exceed $60,000.00
for a 1 to 2-person household. TAP-I provides adaptive computer software for persons with computers
who need assistance to use the Internet. Training is provided by TAP-I. TAP-I uses the same financial guidelines.

Americans with Disabilities Act On My Own, Inc. will
provide ADA on-site assessments for those wishing to achieve and/or maintain ADA compliance. There
is a fee to businesses for this service Transition Team The Transition
Team offers a “first time, one time” financial and personal assistance package to consumers desiring to leave
a dependent care facility and reestablish themselves in an independent living environment.

AIR CONDITIONER LOAN
PROGRAM: This program is available to persons with a disability and medical condition that requires air conditioning.
A Doctor's statement prescribing the need for air conditioning is required along with a $50 deposit for the unit. Depositis
must be made with a check or money order, which will be refunded when the unit is returned in good clean working condition.
The loan is for the duration of the summer season.
Disaster Response Teams The impact of the tornados that tore through the On
My Own, Inc. service area in the spring of 2003 and again in the spring of 2006 are a tragic reminder of our responsibility
to respond to our consumers during and after any type of emergency situation. As a result On My
Own, Inc. is participating with county and city officials in each of our communities to become a partner
in their disaster response units. Detailed driving directions and vital information about special needs
of the disabled consumers will be stored in a database to hasten response time.

Quarterly Newsletter A timely, informative newsletter is published four times a year by On
My Own, Inc. The newsletter strives to keep consumers informed and up to date on legislative developments
pertaining to persons with disabilities, new OMO programs and services, and information and referral sources
to other programs. CWIC-Community Work Incentive On
My Own, Inc. has a Coordinator who can assist with issues
related to your Social Security benefits. Joanne Rosales is available by appointment by calling our Nevada
Office. Support
Groups On My Own, Inc. sponsors support groups that allow consumers to share information
and draw on the experiences of others. Anyone interested in joining an existing group or seeking help in
having a new group established should call the On My Own, Inc. Advocate in our Nevada office.

College/ Vo Tech. Scholarship Program One onf On My Own Inc.’s newest programs is a college scholarship program
for children of a disabled parent. The scholarship is for $1,000.00 per semester for up to 10 semesters at an In-state College,
University or Vocational Technical program. The student must be between the ages of 18 and 25, carry an
average class load and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. For a scholarship application contact Services

Home Modification Program The Home
Modification Program can provide interior modifications that will allow a person with disabilities to remain independent in
their own home. An assessment done by On My Own, Inc. will determine what modifications can be completed.
This program can provide modifications for bathrooms and kitchens, for widening of doorways, for removal of raised
thresholds, etc.
Ramp Program
The
Ramp Program is designed to enable a person confined to a wheelchair to enter and exit their home. The
ramp must be built to ADA requirements.
Assistive
Equipment Loan Program
The Equipment Loan Program can help with: wheel chairs,
portable ramps, “potty” chairs, shower seats, canes, crutches and walkers. Equipment is loaned upon completion
of a need assessment for a period up to ninety days. A deposit
of $25 to $50 (depending on the item) is required. The deposit is returned when the equipment is returned
in good and clean condition. Call On My Own, Inc. for a complete list of assistive equipment in the loan
